Bridal make up?

I've been set a task by my boyfriends mother (she is getting married on the 30th June).





She wants me to find a professional make up artist to do her make up on the big day but I don't know where to start! I've asked a few colleagues that I know have connections with the beauty industry but apart from that I don't know where to look.





Can anyone point me in the right direction?





She wants someone to actually go to her house on the morning of the wedding to do it and she lives in Addlestone, Surrey.

Most services will do a consultantion assessing the requirements of the bride, colours she likes and dislikes, the effects etc.. and does the makeup for her. If she likes the results the make artist will return on the day to recreate the same look again.!!

NOOOOOO! Do not call a Mary Kay lady under any circumstances! First of all, they are not allowed to touch faces. They only bring samples and ';tell you how'; to put on the make-up. They are not even trained estheticians. Mary Kay does not teach consultants anything about make-up. They are not professionals and should NEVER be relied upon to do something as important as a wedding. If you are going to do that, you might as well call a neighbor down the street to do it.





Your best bet is to call salons, beauty schools, or as a last resort, the department store beauty advisors. At least the folks who work at the Estee Lauder or Lancome, etc counters ARE trained to do make-overs.
We used a friend of my daughter's who actually worked for Dillards. She did a fabulous job and we paid her well. She, too, came to the house.
truly, no one knows your own face like you do, my advice is to do it yourself. You can practice as many times as you like, and there are enough tips and hints in magazines. Why pay someone a huge amount and risk looking like a dogs dinner all over done up when you can do just as good a job yourself? Just get some decent brushes and colours that you like and go for it.
Whilst I agree with Rose, above, if she really wants to get it done professionally, I'd either have a word at a local beauty salon, hairdressers, or see if the photographer can recommend someone.
Really, bridal make-up is about looking natural! You could try local hairdressers or beauticians, but since she wants someone to visit her, she may be out of luck cause June is peak wedding season and make-up artists will be booked out! it is one of those things that should have been booked up in advance! By doing it herself, the bride will save herself some money and stress (ie will make-up artist be on time etc?) I done mine myself and I don't usually wear make-up! I hope it all goes well on the 30th!
Is there a MAC store nearby? Take her to the MAC store, have them do a test round of make up, by the stuff and then do it for her!
Go to your local department store. They have professional make-up artists. Make sure that you go to a nice retailer. I would get someone from Estee Lauder, Chanel or another nice company. Considering that she is your boyfriends mother, MAC wouldn't be the best bet because they tend to go very dramatic and overdone. I have to disagree with what some other people here said. I am not planning on doing my own make-up. I am not great at doing my own make-up and the professionals know how to give you a beautiful, fresh look. Good luck!
You should go to the makeup counters at the mall. Each makeup counter has makeup artists that do brides. You can also call some hair salons. Maybe the hair salon that your bfs mom is getting her hair done has a makeup artist there.
Well, I have to say all these answers are right on target. I am a professional wedding photographer and I hate to see a bride over done. Usually they are not very happy with it either.





All the suggestions were great and if they are not booked often a clinician from a beauty salon will come to your home or wedding venue but I usually see that if they are doing hair and make up for the entire party.





One other place to look is a Mary Kay consultant. I have one who has left her material with me and she does free make up as well as pre-make up partys. No hard sale. For her it is the chance to build a new relationship in the business. They usually do a very credible job.
You could try in top end department store. The ones that do make overs. Your local spa might have someone hair stylist. Yellow pages.
