KISMET CHUGH
From graphic designer to make-up artist. That’s 27-year-old Kismet Chugh for you. “As a young girl, I was trying my hand at make-up and experimenting on my face,” says Kismet. The turning point came when someone asked her during a function: “Who did your face?” She says, “As a graphic designer, I was painting a canvas but as a make-up artist, I paint faces. Both are somewhat similar as they are creative jobs.” Just two-and-a-half years in the business, work for her comes largely through word-of-mouth. “It is like a chain reaction. People see my work, appreciate it and recommend me to friends.” Kismet, who has trained under Vidya Tikari for make-up and Pivot Point for hair styling, freelances from her home in Greater Kailash. “For me, base (foundation) is most important while doing make-up. It has to be in sync with the skin tone of the person. And I always try to work on one feature and accentuate it. It can be either eyes or lips,” she says. Kismet also conducts grooming and makeup sessions for corporate groups like The Hyatt and Radico Khaitan and has similar classes for housewives and students as well. “The fashion world is like a playground and is very challenging. With every face, you learn something new and get better.” Her fee? Rs 8,000 for bridal make up and Rs 4,000 per face for fashion shows and shoots. Tel: 9910023185.
